What first inspired you to pursue mountaineering and eventually become a professional guide?
I was born and raised in a mountainous region, where daily life and surroundings naturally inspired my passion for mountaineering.
What certifications, licenses, or specialised training do you hold as a guide?
I hold trekking and climbing guide certifications issued by the Government of Nepal, covering professional guiding standards and mountain safety.
What is your team's approach to safety and acclimatisation during expeditions?
Our team closely monitors all clients for altitude symptoms, ensuring gradual acclimatisation and responding quickly to any signs of altitude illness.
What aspects of guiding do you enjoy the most?
Being in the mountains feels like home to me, and guiding allows me to share that deep personal connection with others.
Could you share one of your happiest or most memorable experiences on a mountain?
Seeing clients cry with joy after witnessing vast mountain ranges for the first time is always an unforgettable and emotional experience.
Do you have a favourite mountain or route?
The Kanchenjunga trail is my favourite because it is wild, remote, and far less touristic than many popular trekking routes.
What is the most difficult or demanding mountain you have climbed, and why?
Island Peak was particularly demanding due to heavy traffic on the route and sections requiring basic technical climbing skills.
Have you faced a dangerous or near-death situation, and what did you learn from it?
I learned never to underestimate mountains, as altitude sickness and sudden weather changes can quickly become serious and life-threatening.
What advice would you give to beginner mountaineers?
Beginners should always travel in a group and hire an experienced guide, especially on their first high-altitude expedition.
What challenges do your clients typically face, and how do you support them?
Most clients struggle with altitude sickness or summit push preparation, and I support them through pacing, encouragement, and careful monitoring.
Which expeditions or treks do you specialise in?
- Ama Dablam Expedition
- Himlung Himal Expedition
- Lhotse Expedition
- Kanchenjunga Circuit with Tengkoma
